Five-day Seva for Sangha Camp concludes successfully

Thousands of beneficiaries availed benefits of various schemes

LEH, May 17: As initiated by Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, the five-day Seva for Sangha Camp, intended to target individual-oriented beneficiary schemes, organised during Ladakh Monlam Chenmo 2023 by All Ladakh Gompa Association, Leh in collaboration with District Administration of Leh and Kargil, ITBP, CIBS, Mentsekhang and Banks concluded successfully at Dharma Centre Choglamsar, Leh on May 15th.

Attending the concluding event, MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, on behalf of Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), felicitated the officers and officials from different departments and organizations for their dedication and services to the intended beneficiaries during the five-day camp. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sonam Chosjor and President, All Ladakh Gonpa Association, Acharya Stanzin Wangtak accompanied MP Ladakh.

MP Ladakh JTN lauded the commendable efforts of the organisers and the services of different departments in ensuring that the benefits are availed by intended beneficiaries and spreading awareness about the different schemes and making the ‘Seva for Sangha’ Camp a grand success. MP Ladakh JTN also handed over documents like Ladakh Resident Certificates, Income Certificates, Ration Card and Golden Card etc. to the beneficiaries.

The mass congregation of Sangha community members, including monks and nuns along with public from different villages of Leh and Kargil district during the Ladakh Monlam Chenmo offered the prime platform to promote and provide the benefits of various government schemes to thousands of intending beneficiaries.

In the medical camp by Health Department, Leh for health check-up, 1472 patients were screened under General OPD, 408 patients were screened for Non-Communicable Diseases, 74 were screened for breast examination, 28 patients screened under Dental OPD, and 994 laboratory tests were also conducted. More than 400 patients were screened at Mentsekhang stall and around 466 patients were screened at the stall by Sowa Rigpa (AYUSH). Also, 202 patients availed the services of Nutritionist and 631patients availed pharmacy services during the camp.

Similarly, 570 patients were screened in the medical camp conducted by ITBP.

During the camp, 230 beneficiaries from Leh district and 85 from Kargil district were provided with Golden Card under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Meanwhile, 400 ABHA (Health Card) were generated for beneficiaries from Leh and 81 Health Card for beneficiaries from Kargil district.

The Revenue Department, Leh with scheduled services by different tehsils provided different services to around 765 beneficiaries by issuing Ladakh Resident Certificates, Income Certificates and verifying beneficiaries for Golden card. Similarly, the Revenue Department of Kargil served more than 190 beneficiaries from Kargil district during the Seva for Sangha by issuing LRC, Income Certificates and verifying Golden card beneficiaries, especially from the Sangha community. 

Food Civil Services and Consumer Affairs Department, Leh provided services to 750 beneficiaries during the five-day camp by issuing new ration cards and updating beneficiary details in existing ration cards.

A total of 96 beneficiaries enrolled under Old Age Pension Scheme by the Social Welfare Department. More than 200 beneficiaries availed the services of the Aadhar camp by enrolling and updating necessary details such as mobile numbers, address, etc.

The banking sector also provided a slew of services in which several banks like SBI, J&K and P&B enrolled around130 beneficiaries under PM Suraksha Bhima Yojana, 40 beneficiaries were registered under PM Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana, two beneficiaries enrolled for Atal Pension Yojana, and around 13 new bank accounts were also opened. ATM services were also installed in which transactions above 8 lakhs were carried out during the five-day camp.

Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Leh provided machinery for printing and photostat and assisted the beneficiaries in filing up the documents enabling easy access to such services for convenience of all.

Awareness on health, hygiene and healthy diet were also organised during the camp by the Health Department and also by social activist Dr Norden Otzer and team.
