Floriculture department organises District Level Kissan Mela at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 30: The Department of Floriculture, Parks, and Gardens organized a District Level Kissan Mela at Jakhani Park Udhampur under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme MIDH. The event, inaugurated by S. Jatinder Singh, Director General Floriculture, Parks & Gardens Jammu in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia witnessed active participation from the farming community.

The Kissan mela aimed to boost commercial Floriculture activities and elevate the welfare of farmers. With a significant turnout, farmers engaged with key stakeholders, exchanged ideas, and stayed informed about the latest developments in Floriculture.

 Addressing the participants, the Director General highlighted the potential of commercial Floriculture to supplement family income alongside traditional agriculture.    

Vikrant Sharma, Joint Director, shared insights into Centrally Sponsored Schemes and the support provided by the Floriculture department, including technical know-how, technology, and financial incentives.

District Officers from Agriculture and Horticulture Departments delivered informative lectures on Mushroom cultivation, Apiculture, and various Horticultural crops. Notable dignitaries, including the Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, and District Sheep Husbandry Officer Dr. Farhat Bashir, graced the occasion.

The ADC urged farmers to leverage the benefits of different schemes in Agriculture and allied sectors. As a gesture of appreciation, the Department of Floriculture awarded certificates and mementos to five progressive flower growers from Udhampur district, encouraging others to embrace commercial Floriculture.

In conclusion, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Udhampur, Arjun Singh Parihar, expressed gratitude to all participants for making the event a success.
