Forest Department holds Plantation Drive

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 23: In a commendable effort to combat climate change and enhance urban greenery, the Forest Department today organized a winter plantation drive under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ at Basivan Zeethyar, Srinagar.


This initiative aims to instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment and encourage community participation in afforestation efforts.


The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders, including Divisional Forest Officer, Urban Forestry Srinagar, Range Officers and forest frontline staff.


“Planting a tree is not just about adding greenery; it is about nurturing life. With the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, we aspire to create a legacy for future generations. Every tree planted today is a step toward a healthier planet”, stated the Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle Tawheed Ahmad Deva.


DFO Urban echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significance of engaging the community in such initiatives. He said our forests are not only vital for our environment but also for our cultural heritage. By involving local citizens, we foster a deeper connection with nature and inspire stewardship.


Meanwhile, the winter plantation drive successfully witnessed the planting of hundreds of saplings, with participants eagerly contributing to the cause.


As the campaign continues, the Forest Department has invited all residents of Srinagar to join hands in this noble endeavor.
