Forest Department observed World wildlife Day under the theme “Partnership for wildlife conservation” at Forest Park Guphuk Leh today
LADAKH, March 03 : Executive Councillor for forest Ghulam Mehdi was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was attended by Councillor Phyang Constituency Tundup Norbu; Chairperson, Block Development Council Leh, Dr.Skalzang Dorjey; DCF, H/Q UT Ladakh, Suman Beniwal; Regional Director LPCC, Aditya Madanpotra; President (WCBCL) Lobzang Visuddha; District Officer Ladakh Pollution Control Committee; Zonal Soil Conservation officer; school/college faculty members, personnel from forest department and students
In his address, EC Mehdi emphasised upon the issues of biodiversity prevalent around the globe and how it is affecting the wildlife. In his speech he also pointed the importance of wild fauna and flora and how people especially youth can contribute to conserve the fragile ecosystem. He also spoke about the importance of ecological balance and also LAHDC’s role in conserving the wildlife.
Councillor Phyang constituency Tundup Nurbo, spoke about the importance of awareness about the protection and right information of wildlife, sustainable development, pollination etc. he further addressed the gathering regarding how to raise awareness about the world’s wild animals and plants.
Chairman, BDC, Leh Dr. Skalzang Dorjey in his speech pointed up the importance of inclusive participation from the govt, the department and people to strengthen collaborative support for the sustainable development. He also spoke on topics like waste management, segregation, long and short-term work for the wildlife protection, plantation drive etc
On the occasion world wildlife day, all the dignitaries along with students planted trees. DCF, H/Q UT Ladakh, Suman Beniwal also felicitated mementoes to all the dignitaries and students.
