From Aspiration to Achievement: ABDP Transforms lives in Duggan Block of District Kathua
KATHUA, May 01: The Aspirational Block Development Plan (ABDP) has been a game-changer for the residents of Duggan Block in District Kathua.
The Aspirational Block Development Program (ABDP) has been a significant step towards equitable and inclusive development in the backward blocks of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir. The programme was conceived on the analogy of the “Aspirational Districts Programme” of NITI Aayog, Government of India, with the aim to accelerate development of the most backward districts of the Country.
Duggan Block was identified as an Aspirational block that needed immediate attention, and the ABDP was implemented with a focus on the establishment of smart classrooms and solar paneling for the continuous supply of electricity in Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
Guided by the spirit of good governance and to make an impact on the lives of people living in the remotest and backward region, the ABDP is being implemented with precision and dedication.
The establishment of smart classrooms has transformed the way students learn and has made education more accessible to students in remote areas. The use of technology in education has also made it easier for teachers to engage with students and has improved the quality of education.
Under the ABDP, one each smart classroom has been established in Government High School Dhaggar, GHS Banjal and GHSS Kohag which is benefitting a total of 602 enrolled students of these schools which were hitherto the most backward in terms of educational infra. The ABDP has come as a guiding light in transforming the educational landscape of block Duggan which is in line with the New Education Policy ( NEP-2020) aimed at holistic development of the children by leveraging the technology.
The installation of solar panels in PHC Dhaggar through JAKEDA has ensured uninterrupted power supply, enabling the centre to provide quality healthcare services to the people round the clock. This has been a major achievement of the ABDP, as uninterrupted power supply is crucial for healthcare facilities. After installation of the Solar Panel in PHC the registration for OPD and IPD on E-Sehat platform has become easier.
Moreover, the installation of solar panels in the PHC Dhaggar, which often witnesses snowfall and curtailment of electricity for long hours making the routine work and correspondences with higher authorities difficult, has enabled the health institute to easily handle the situation, thanks to round the clock electricity available through solar panels.
The ABDP’s success in Duggan Block has been nothing short of phenomenal. The residents have seen a significant improvement in their quality of life, with improved access to education and healthcare. The success of the ABDP in Duggan Block has become a model to replicate for other aspirational blocks in the district and the UT.
The transformation of Duggan Block from an aspirational block to a developed one is a testament to the power of good governance, strong leadership, and community participation.
The ABDP has empowered the residents of Duggan Block and has given them hope for a better future.
Through the ABDP, the government has taken a step towards providing better access to education, healthcare, infrastructure, and other essential services in the backward blocks. The program has been designed to focus on the specific needs and challenges faced by each region and to provide targeted solutions to overcome them. By successfully implementing the ABDP, the government has demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of all citizens, irrespective of their geographic location or economic status, and has paved the way for a more inclusive and prosperous India.
