FSD Anantnag conducts intensive inspections of Bakery Manufacturing, Retail Units

Recommends 11 FBOs for compounding

ANANTNAG, MARCH 26: To ensure availability of safe and wholesome food to the general public besides review compliance of good hygienic and good manufacturing practices in view of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, Food Safety Department (FSD) Anantnag today conducted surprise inspections of Food Business Operators dealing with manufacturing and sale of bakery and bakery products at various markets in the district.

Additionally the Food Safety Authorities raised awareness among Food Business Operators (FBOs) regarding labeling requirements.

The Food Safety Authorities also cautioned the general public to ensure that the Food products they purchase are properly labelled in accordance with the law.

During the inspections Food Safety Department procured various enforcement and surveillance samples for detailed analysis from NABL Accredited Laboratory.

Moreover, several petty FBOs were found violating different provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and accordingly eleven 11 petty FBOs were recommended for compounding under Section 69 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006.
