FSD Anantnag conducts intensive market checking, recommends 06 FBOs for compounding

ANANTNAG, MARCH 12: The Food Safety Department (FSD) Anantnag today conducted intensive market checking at different markets in the District.

The comprehensive inspections targeted FBOs dealing with manufacturing of pickle, Fruit and Vegetable shops, Mutton shops and other edible stores with a focus on making availability of safe and wholesome food to general public and to check Good Hygienic and Good Manufacturing Practices of Pickle Manufacturing Units in the district.

During the market checking enforcement samples of pickles were procured by department for detailed analysis from NABL Accredited Laboratory. Moreover, several FBOs were found violating different provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and accordingly six (06) FBOs were recommended for compounding under Section 69 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006.

Furthermore the authorities assured that regular inspections will continue in the district to maintain the highest standards of Food Safety and ensure availability of quality food items to the consumers.

Meanwhile, FBOs were sternly warned to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006/Rules and Regulations there under.
