G20 University Connect Conference to be held at Jammu on April 26, 2023

JAMMU, April 25: India-The G20 University Connect Conference, is being organized by three Institutes of National Importance (INI’s) and the top most institutes of Jammu – IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu, and AIIMS Jammu in collaboration with the Government of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), on April 26, 2023 at Convention Centre, Jammu.

  Shri Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor, UT of Jammu & Kashmir has consented to be the Chief Guest and shall inaugurate the Conference. Shri Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, UT of Jammu & Kashmir will be the Guest of Honour.

The conference aims to bring together experts, policymakers, and academicians from around the country to discuss and deliberate on key issues in alignment with the essence of India’s G20 Presidency, with more emphasis on making Jammu as a Global Educational hub in view of the presence of three Institutes of National Importance (INI) i.e. IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu, AIIMS Jammu, and Central University, Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences, Institute of Mass Communication, Industrial Biotech Park besides, many other local Medical colleges and Universities, across the UT of Jammu.

The Conference will be starred with 35 eminent Speakers who are distinguished academicians, medical professionals, and politicians/policy makers. The Conference will be attended by approximately 450 delegates from across the country. It will stress upon and deliberate on the need for enhanced national and international collaborations in tackling global challenges such as climate change, economic recovery, and healthcare with special emphasis on the role of Universities in fostering international cooperation and facilitating knowledge exchange.

The Conference features panel discussions on five key topics – enhancing collaboration, enhancing digital transformation, global trade and business recovery, and next-generation healthcare. The panels will be moderated by distinguished academicians and experts in their respective fields.

The first panel shall discuss ways to enhance collaboration between Nations in addressing global challenges. The panelists will brainstorm the need for greater cooperation in areas such as climate change, energy transition, youth centric efforts, global startup ecosystem, Gender equity and sustainable development agenda and model.

The second panel shall focus on the role of digital transformation in driving digital economic growth, the challenges faced and social development. The panelists will discuss the opportunities and challenges posed by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things.

The third panel shall delve into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global trade and business recovery. They shall emphasize on the need for coordinated efforts to restore international trade and investment flows and support the recovery of small and medium-sized enterprises and keeping a good growing trajectory of global economies.

The fourth panel will discuss the future of healthcare and the need for next-generation health systems to meet the evolving needs of society. The panelists shall deliberate upon the importance of innovation, research, and education in advancing healthcare delivery and improving health outcomes, at the most affordable cost.

The fifth and the final panel will be on University Connect: Enhancing Global Collaboration in Higher Education.

The Conference will also feature a special session on G20 Presidency and university connects in enhancing global collaboration in higher education. The session shall highlight the role of universities in promoting international collaboration, facilitating student mobility, and enhancing academic exchange between nations, with the UT of Jammu, which has par excellence potential for quality and affordable higher education.

The Conference being organized by top institutes of Jammu i.e. IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu, AIIMS Jammu, Govt. of UT of J & K and DICCI, will conclude with a valedictory session where the key findings and recommendations of the Conference will be presented.
