GAD, ACB jointly organise ‘Training-cum-Workshop on Preventive Vigilance’ at Civil Secretariat
JAMMU, NOVEMBER 04: To mark the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, 2023, General Administration Department (GAD) in collaboration with Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), J&K organised ‘Training-cum-Workshop on Preventive Vigilance and role and responsibilities of CVOs/DVOs’ at Civil Secretariat, Jammu as well as Srinagar.
The workshop was chaired by Commissioner Secretary, GAD, Sanjeev Verma.
Director, ACB, Anand Jain; SSP, ACB, Dalip Kumar; AIG (Policy), ACB, G.S. Ghuman, officers of GAD, officers and officials of different Departments participated in the workshop.
In his address during the workshop, the Commissioner Secretary appreciated the sea change that has occurred in the functioning of Government departments. He focused on fast disposal of complaints especially related to Revenue, Welfare and other public oriented works.
Director ACB, in his address, spoke in length about healthy work culture and importance of honest and credible officers who play instrumental role in functioning of various Government departments. He laid emphasis on the mechanism of CVOs/DVOs who have been pivotal in time bound disposal of complaints related to departmental working.
SSP, ACB, Dalip Kumar and AIG (Policy), ACB, G.S. Ghuman also spoke on the occasion as guest speakers.
During the training programme, the speakers focused on different facets of Vigilance with special emphasis on Preventive Vigilance measures. It was highlighted during the workshop that corruption is an all common phenomenon which knows no boundaries and barriers and all efforts should be made to curb this menace. They highlighted that the institution of Departmental Vigilance officers is a step towards utilizing officers in field within the concerned department to provide a helping hand to curb corrupt practices.
They added that Vigilance is to be recognized as a management function in every sector of governance and we have to build structure, process and systems in such a manner so as to prevent leakage which adversely affect productivity and profitability.
During the workshop, the participants were also enlightened about the detailed procedure regarding conducting of Regular Departmental Actions besides emphasizing on the importance to conclude RDA in a time bound manner.
