GCW Gandhinagar organises Symposium on Child rights & protection 

In the wake of independence day, the Department of Social Work and Department of Psychology PSPS GCW Gandhinagar, Jammu, in collaboration with the National Development Foundation (NDF) organized a symposium on the topic “Child Rights & Protection”. The event began with a welcome note by Prof. Sunita Devi, HOD, Department of Social Work and was hosted by Aneesha Kour and Manasvee Choudhary, students of 5th sem. 

    A total of 33 students participated in the symposium and the panelists consisted of Dr. Nazia Rasool, HOD Environmental Science, Dr. Suraj Mohani, HOD Sociology and Prof. Vinay Lata, Asst. Prof, Department of Psychology. NDF was represented by  Ms. Nisha Pandita, Addl. Programme Officer, along with her team members Mr. Aman Sharma and Ms. Pritee Manhas. The event was attended by many students and faculty members viz. Prof. Rachna Devi, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Anita Kotwal among others.

The objective of the symposium was to educate and raise awareness about child rights and protection among college students, encourage critical thinking, discussion and innovative solutions and foster a community of young advocates for child rights. The students were encouraged and felicitated by the worthy Principal Dr.SP Saraswat, who also sensitized students regarding the child rights, need to recognize the inherent dignity and well being of every child and provide them with  access to education, health care and protection from exploitation. The winners of the event were Manvi Rajput (1st), Kashish Salaria (2nd), Shivya Gandotra (3rd) and two consolation prizes to Tanya and Akriti. 


The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ujjwal Sharma, HOD , Department of Psychology.
