GCW Parade organizes 3-Day Workshop on Fabric Printing Techniques

JAMMU, MARCH 27: The Department of Home Science Government College for Women Parade Ground today concluded the three-day workshop on Fabric Printing Techniques organised under the guidance of worthy Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo.

Sixty students from semester 4th and 6th availed the opportunity to experiment with different fabrics, colors, and designs, fostering creativity and practical knowledge during the workshop.

The workshop provided an exciting platform to the college students to explore and experiment with a variety of traditional and modern fabric printing methods.

The Day 1 started with a session on traditional printing techniques like block printing and tie-dye, where students learned to explore vibrant patterns to create a unique texture. They learned different techniques of tie and dye and block printing. Each student showed their creativity by making beautiful designs on fabric. On the Day 2 students were introduced   to stencil printing and the art of layering colors to achieve vibrant, eye-catching designs. Stencil printing is a versatile technique where students learn to create repetitive patterns on fabric by applying this technique.

Last day focused on Batik printing (The magic of resist). This activity provided students with comprehensive skills in batik printing without using the traditional method of wax application.  Students demonstrated high enthusiasm and active involvement throughout the workshop.

The event concluded with a showcase of student-created prints, celebrating their creativity and newly acquired skills. A vote of thanks was given by Dr. Iesha Sharma, Lecturer, Home Science, GCW Parade Ground Jammu.
