GCW Udhampur creates Amrit Vatikas under Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign
UDHAMPUR, August 10: As part of Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign, NSS Units of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, in collaboration with Department of Social Forestry, created two Amrit Vatikas on the College campus and in the adopted village Panchayat Halqa Rathian.
The activity was conducted under the convenership of Programme officers Sumita Rao and Mr.Rajinder Singh,
In the college campus saplings of different plant species including Silver Oak, Hibiscus, Night Jasmine, Bottle Brush etc. were planted by Principal of the college Prof Anjali Mahajan and Divisional Forest officer Social Forestry Abhinav Ramyotra, NSS POs, Prof. Kewal Kumar, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Yash Kumar and 55 NSS volunteers of the college.
Principal Prof. Anjali Mahajan applauded the efforts of the organisers for creation of Amrit Vatikas to develop a healthy Environment in the college. She further added that everyone should participate more and more in such plantation drives and should plant one tree each year especially on their birthdays and should look after it till it matures. She also thanked DFO Social Forestry Udhampur for plant saplings and the logistic support.
Another Amrit Vatika was created in the Govt Primary School Blay of adopted village Panchayat Halqa Rathian. The plants were planted by Teacher incharges, kids, Sarpanch Deewan Singh and NSS volunteers. Students of Primary School were briefed about the MMMD campaign and importance of Amrit Vatikas by NSS PO Sumita Rao. They were encouraged to build a friendship bond with the trees.
Dr. Kewal Kumar Expert Advisor ECO Club and Prof. Yash Kumar coordinated the programme technically.
