GCW Udhampur observes International Drug De-addiction Day

UDHAMPUR, June 27: The NCC Cadets of 1&2 NCC Bn Girls along with the NSS volunteers and Rangers of Scouts and Guides of Government College for Women today observed International Drug De-addiction Day.    

The students took an online pledge against drug addiction and performed a ballet at the event organised by District Administration Udhampur.

 Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur appreciated the efforts of the cadets and highlighted the importance of such programmes. He  stressed that the efforts should be made by all stakeholders, particularly by the civil society to reach out to youth to educate them about the disastrous consequences of consumption of alcohol, drugs and narcotic substances.

The College Principal, Prof. Anjali Mahajan also appreciated the students and urged them to work as ambassadors against drug addiction and   explore their potential in the realisation of latent dreams of their parents. Prof. Sumita Rao, Dr. Sumit Sharma and Dr. Usha Sharma accompanied the students at the venue.

Lt (Dr) Kamal Deep Kaur, Nodal Officer NCORD GCW anchored the event. The event was organized by DSWO,  Kanika Gupta, and was witnessed by DDO’s, BDO’s, SSP and other prominent stakeholders of the district.
