GDC Gbl organizes inter-college Essay Writing & Painting Competition
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 12: As part of the 78th Independence Day celebration, the Debating Committee of the Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal today organised an inter-college essay writing and painting competition.
A total of three colleges from the district including the host college participated. The program was held in the conference hall of the college at 11 am.
Principal of the college, Prof. Fouzia Fatima formally welcomed all the participants and guests to the event. She also deliberated upon the various important aspects of the day and highlighted the overall activities which the college conducted from August 1 2024 as part of the celebrations held in lieu of the Independence Day.
Earlier, Dr Wasia, Convenor, Debates and Seminar Committee introduced the themes of the program and also highlighted the importance of 15th August in the history of India.
The competitions then started and the participants were given a time period of one hour for each category under the theme ‘Depiction of Indian freedom struggle and the unsung heroes.’
The painting competition was judged by Prof Mujeeb Kawoosa and Prof Sameera Siraj and the essay writing competition was judged by Prof. Tawseef Ahmad and Prof Marifat Akhter.
Seerat Shabir from GDC Ganderbal, Zuha Afzal from GCET, Safapora and Furqan Nazir from GDC Ganderbal won the first, second and third prize in the painting competition respectively and Sheikh Mohammad Hubaib from GCET Safapora, Azhar-ud-din from GDC Kangan and Sahil Mushtaq from GDC Ganderbal won the first, second and third prize in Essay Writing Competition respectively.
Principal of the college, judges of the program along with various other faculty members felicitated the winners with mementos and certificates among the participants and winners as a mark of appreciation.
