GDC Kathua organises students’ Field Trip to Jasrota Wild -Life Sanctuary
KATHUA, October 09: To promote wildlife conservation and raise awareness about the value of protecting India’s natural heritage, Science Club and Ravi Eco Club of Government Degree College Kathua organised a field trip sponsored by J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council for students at Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary.
More than 50 enthusiastic students participated in the field trip to Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary. The trip was formally flagged off by the College Principal Prof. Seema Mir in presence of Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener, Prof. Raj Kiran, Dr. Deepshikha, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Prof. Shub Kumar, Dr. Surya Partap Singh, Prof. Surbhi Gupta, Dr. Suresh, Dr. Kamaldeep, Dr. Amrik and Prof. Neeru Sharma.
The field trip was organised under the mentorship of the Principal and with coordinated efforts of Sunita Razdan, Joint Director J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener, Science Club, Dr. Deepshikha, Convener Ravi Eco Club and Dr. Pankaj Gupta Organizing Secretary and Nodal Officer.
The students showed great enthusiasm during the trip during which they visited different locations and observed a variety of Fauna and Flora inside the sanctuary.
Convener Science Club Prof. Rakesh Singh,, threw light on the importance of biodiversity and role of the individuals in its conservation. Dr. Pankaj Gupta, encouraged the students to reap maximum benefit out of this field trip. Convener, Ravi Club Dr. Deepshikha elaborated about the various species of plants and animals present in the sanctuary. Faculty members accompanying the field trip included Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Prof. Surbhi and Dr. Suresh.
