GDC Kishtwar leads fight against drug abuse with ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’
150 students pledge to ‘say yes to life and no to drugs’ at Public Outreach Programme’
KISHTWAR, May 06: Eco Club and NSS UNIT GDC Kishtwar today organized a ‘Public Outreach Programme- Pledge against Drugs here under the banner “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” to generate awareness about the social and health hazards of drug abuse and motivate the students towards a Drug Free life and society. The “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” is an initiative of Govt. of India which reiterates India’s fight against the menace of drugs.
The event was organized under the patronage of the College Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar and close supervision of Dr. Athar Hussain.
Executive Engineer PWD(R&B) , Ravinder Kumar was the Guest of Honour for the event. Dr. Athar Hussain, Prof. Tariq Tamkeen, Prof Romana Akhtar and Dr. Sehrish Gazal spoke on the occasion and encouraged the students to refrain themselves and their friends from straying into the dark path of drug abuse. The main aim of the pledge was to spread the message of ill effects of drugs among the students and to strengthen the resolve in making India a drugs free nation.
Dr. Sehrish Gazal (convener Eco-Club) urged the students to take part in E–pledge titled “Say yes to life, No to Drugs” and uploaded it on the website www.mygov.in. Stepwise details of accessing the website/ link and to take the E-pledge along with generation of digital certificates were provided to the students. All the students were requested to be part of this mass movement against drugs. This programme not only helped to spread the awareness against drug menace but also initiated in saving our present and future generations from the clutches of drugs.
About 150 students participated in the Pledge Taking Ceremony. Other Faculty members who participated were Prof. Sarita Parihar, Prof. Faisal, Prof. Sonika Sen, Prof. Vijay Kumar, Prof Vikram Shan, Prof Showket Aziz, Prof Umar Rasheed, Dr. Munish Kumar and Prof. Ajay Kumar.
