GDC Kishtwar, Wildlife Chenab Division organise Seminar on ‘Life-style for Environment’ under Mission LiFE and G20 Initiative

KISHTWAR, May 23: Eco Club, Government Degree College Kishtwar, in collaboration with Wildlife Division Chenab Kishtwar, Department of Wildlife Protection UT Of J&K Govt, today organized a seminar on the topic “Life-style for Environment” under the aegis of G20 and Mission LiFE -an initiative of Government of India launched on 20th October 2022.

The event was organised with the aim to nudge individuals and communities to practice a life-style that is synchronous with nature and to refrain themselves from damaging it. Sh. Majid Bashir Mintoo (Wildlife Warden Chenab Division) was the Chief Guest of the event.  Mansoor Ahmed Khan (Range Officer, Kishtwar Range, Department of Wildlife) was the special guest. Dr. Tariq Ahmed Shah (Research Associate, Department of Wildlife) acted as Resource person who gave a detailed insight about the Government initiatives and theme of Mission LiFE. He also deliberated upon lifestyle changes every individual should adopt for a sustainable living.

Nearly 50 students participated and many among them spoke on the topic and covered various objectives of mission life and revealed the imperativeness of enriching and conserving environment in lieu to blissful life.

Dr. Jyoti Parihar, the College Principal, in her speech, laid emphasis on the role of every individual for the conservation of our environment.  She stressed upon students to act locally and try to inculcate environment- friendly behaviour in their daily lives. She further appreciated the efforts of the Eco-club and wildlife Department Kishtwar for organizing such events in collaboration with College authorities and praised the participants for their outstanding speeches. She also applauded Dr. Tariq Ahmed Shah (Resource person) for the informative and valuable session. Dr. Madhu Ram, Prof. Randeep and Prof. Akshay Sharma  judged the event. Among the student speakers 1st position was bagged by Mehak Sharma, 2nd by Abroo Wajid and 3rd by Palak Sharma. Shweta Sharma was awarded a special prize for her poem composed by her.

The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sehrish Gazal who thanked the officials of the Wildlife Department for collaborating with the Eco-club. Event culminated successfully and was highly appreciated by the students and officials.
