GDC, Mahanpur organizes 2 days Workshop titled “Dogri Language, Culture & Literature” to celebrate Dogri Manyata Diwas

Kathua, Dec 22: Govt. Degree College, Mahanpur organized a Two days Workshop titled “Dogri Language, Culture and Literature” to celebrate Dogri Manyata Diwas from 21st of December, 2022 to 22nd of December, 2022.

Dogri Manyata Diwas is celebrated on 22nd of December every year since 2003. It was in 2003 when Dogri language was included in the eighth schedule of Indian Constitution and got the status of National Language.

The programme was organized by Prof. Meena Devi (Department of Dogri), Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia (Department of English) and Dr. Samvedna Sharma (Department of Education) under the supervision of Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. The second day of the Workshop was initiated by Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia, HOD English.

All the dignitaries inaugurated the Worshop with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony. The welcome address was given by Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. On the second day of the Workshop, Prof. Meena Devi (HOD Dogri) was the keynote speaker. In her address, Prof. Meena spoke about the value of Dogri language and it’s value in the present times.

The students of the College also prepared various performances displaying the Dogri Culture- Dogri folk Dance and Dogri folk  Songs. The students also recited poetry in Dogri. There were 27 participants who participated in the Dogri Cultural Display. A total number of 80 students participated in the Worshop.

The entire programme was hosted by Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia. The faculty members who were present in the Worshop were Prof. Arvind Kumar, Sh. Saurabh Dutta, Dr. Parshottam Das, Dr. Neetika Verma, Dr. Samvedna Sharma, Dr. Ajay Manhas, Ms. Naresh Kumari and Ms. Rafia.
