GDC, Mahanpur organizes workshop ‘Dogri Language, Culture & Literature’ to celebrate Dogri Manyata Diwas
Kathua, Dec 21: Govt. Degree College, Mahanpur organized a Two days Workshop titled “Dogri Language, Culture and Literature” to celebrate Dogri Manyata Diwas from 21st of December, 2022 to 22nd of December, 2022.DogriManyataDiwas is celebrated on 22nd of December every year since 2003. It was in 2003 when Dogri language was included in the eighth schedule of Indian Constitution and got the status of National Language.
The programme was organized by Prof. Meena Devi (Department of Dogri), Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia (Department of English) and Dr. Samvedna Sharma (Department of Education) under the supervision of Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. The programme was initiated by Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia, HOD English.
All the dignitaries inaugurated the Worshop with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony. The welcome address was given by Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. On the first day, the keynote speaker of the workshop was Dr. N. Suresh Babu, Deputy Secretary , Sahitya Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Govt. Of India, New Delhi. He spoke not only about the value, history and importance of Dogri language but also about the emerging trends in Dogri Literature.
Another speaker was Dr. Samvedna Sharma, HOD Education. She traced the history as well as recent trends in Dogri Literature. Moreover, she also recited two dogri poems. The entire programme was hosted by Prof Rupalee Jasrotia. A total number of 80 students participated in the Workshop.
The faculty members who were present in the Worshop were Prof. Arvind Kumar, Sh. Saurabh Dutta, Prof. Meena Devi, Dr. Parshottam Das, Dr. Neetika Verma, Dr. Ajay Manhas, Ms. Naresh Kumari and Ms. Rafia.
