GDC Marh organises Poetry Recitation Competition
JAMMU, MARCH 29: A poetry recitation competition was organized by the Department of English in collaboration with the Department of Hindi and Department of Dogri here at Government Degree College Marh.

The program began with the lighting of the lamp by the college Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul and other faculty members.
Prof. Anita Sharma (HOD, English) delivered the welcome address, followed by an enlightening and thought-provoking talk by the College Principal. He emphasized the importance of building confidence, connecting students with society and effective life management. Dr. Ruchika Bavouria briefed the participants about the rules of the competition.
A total of 15 students from all semesters participated in the competition, expressing their views on various topics that pertain to today’s world problems such as drug addiction, terrorism etc, showcasing their critical thinking and creativity.
The competition was judged by Prof. Ashu Jolly, Prof. Malti Rajput and Prof. Anjana Chib.
After careful evaluation, Damini Sharma (Sem IV) was awarded first prize, Rohit Singh (Sem IV) secured second prize and the third prize was jointly bagged by Diksha Devi (Sem VI) and Sonia Choudhary (Sem VI). Sweety Kaith (Sem IV) and Shiv Kumar (Sem II) received consolation prizes. Appreciation certificates were also given to all participants to boost their confidence.
The competition was anchored by Simran Devi (Sem IV). Atinder Kumar (Sem IV) and Gourav Kumar (Sem IV) assisted in the smooth conduct of the event. A detailed report of the program was prepared by Dr. Gurleen Kour. All faculty members and students attended the event.
In the end, a vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Shiksha Rani. Refreshments were provided to all the participants and faculty members.
