GDC Nobra Kicks off Educational cum Exposure Tour to Srinagar
Nobra, September 18, 2024: Government Degree College (GDC) Nubra launched a six-days educational cum study exposure tour for its students to Srinagar on 18 September. The tour, aimed at enhancing practical learning and offering exposure to new academic environments, was officially flagged off by the college’s Principal, Dr. Tsewang Motup. The tour group comprises 13 selected students, accompanied by a team of staff members, faculty, with Dr. Konchok Dorjey, Assistant Professor of Botany, serving as the tour incharge.
In his address at the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Motup highlighted the significance of such educational tours in fostering experiential learning beyond the classroom. He noted that exposure to different academic institutions and environment, particularly in a city like Srinagar, offers students a unique opportunity to broaden their academic perspectives. He emphasized that these tours are designed to not only enhance their knowledge but also to allow them to witness firsthand scientific, historical, cultural and social advancements that other institutions and regions offer.
Dr. Motup further encouraged the students to fully immerse themselves in the learning experience during the tour. He advised them to engage actively in all academic and cultural activities, asking questions, and absorbing as much information as possible. The Principal urged the students to use the opportunity to build connections with fellow students, academics, and professionals in Srinagar, which could greatly benefit their future educational and professional endeavors. Dr Motup also expressed his sincere thanks to Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Madam Padma Angmo for always extending her support for educational tour opportunities for students and faculty.
Further, Dr. Motup extended his best wishes to both students and faculty members involved in the tour. He expressed hope that the trip would prove to be an enriching experience for everyone and that it would contribute positively to their academic growth and personal development.
The tour is expected to include visits to various educational institutions, research centers and historical landmarks in Srinagar, providing the students with a comprehensive exposure to the academic and cultural heritage of the region. The participants will gain insights into diverse fields of study, including botany, history, social sciences, and regional biodiversity from Ladakh to Srinagar.
