GDC Nobra students visits Bemina college and Amar Singh College in Kashmir

On 21st September 2024, students from Government Degree College Nobra continued their educational tour by visiting various colleges and educational institutions in Srinagar, enhancing their academic exposure and understanding of the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The first stop was Government Degree College Bemina, where the students interacted with the esteemed Principal, Dr. Yashmin Faruq Khan, along with the teaching, non-teaching staff, and students of the college. Dr. Irfan and Dr. Assif from Bemina College warmly welcomed and escorted the students and faculty of Nobra College around the campus. During their visit, the students toured the college museum in the Departments of Zoology and Botany, where Dr. Mohd Feroz, Dr. Mohd Afzal from Zoology, and Dr. Abid from Botany introduced them to various specimens and museum artifacts, enriching their understanding of biological diversity and scientific collections.

Following this, the students visited Amar Singh College, the oldest and one of the most prestigious institutions in the Kashmir Valley. They engaged in fruitful interactions with the students of the college and explored the college library, campus, and various academic departments, gaining insights into the long-standing academic traditions of the institution.

In the evening, a heritage walk was organized for the students in Old Srinagar City, with expert guidance from INTACH. During the walk, the students visited several historically significant sites, including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Sultan Zain-ul-Abiin’s Mother, and Pather Masjid etc. The expert provided detailed explanations of the historical importance, architectural design, and cultural significance of these monuments, deepening the students’ appreciation for Kashmir’s rich history and its architectural heritage.

This combination of academic and cultural exploration provided the students with a holistic learning experience, expanding their knowledge not only in the sciences but also in the history and heritage of Kashmir.
