GDC, Ramgarh, District Police organize Intra-College debate competition

SAMBA, MAY 29: Government Degree College, Ramgarh in collaboration with District Police, Samba today organized a thought-provoking Intra-College debate competition on the topic “Crime against Women: Decreasing in 21st Century?


The competition was held under the able guidance and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College. While addressing the audience, she appreciated the initiatives and efforts of district police in providing a platform to participants to present diverse perspectives on this critical issue.


Vinay Kumar Sharma, SSP Samba was the chief guest, who in his address highlighted that Crime against women is decreasing but the reporting of these cases has been increased. He also added that the priority of Police Department would always be to punish the criminals who are involved in crime against women.


Moreover, he mentioned that it was not always the men who commit crime against women but in many cases women are also responsible particularly in domestic violence cases. In his concluding remarks he said that it is the need of an hour to provide moral and value based education to young generation by their parents and teachers.


The other guests present were SDPO Vijaypur Shri Rohit Gupta and SHO Ramgarh Inspector Jasvinder. The jury members comprised of Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dept. of Education, GDC Vijaypur, Shri Rohit Gupta SDPO Vijaypur and Inspector Jasvinder SHO Ramgarh.


First position was secured by Alisha Meenia, Second position by Babli Choudhary and Third position went to Komal Devi. The Cash prizes of Rs. 10000, Rs. 8000 and Rs. 5000 were given to them by District Police Samba. Eight consolation prizes of Rs. 2000 each were also given by them to Jagmeet Kour, Harmandeep Kour, Chahat Tadyal, Bhoomika Sharma, Ritika Manhas, Geetanjali Kumari, Priya Raj Kumari and Tamanna Atri.


The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Snobar Convener, Literary Club, GDC Ramgarh.
The event was attended by all the faculty members and students with great zeal and fervor.
