GDC Ramgarh organises declamation contest on ‘Control of Narcotics’
SAMBA, March 31: Government Degree College Ramgarh organised a declamation contest on the topic of ‘Control of Narcotics’ under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative of the Government of India.
The Principal of the college, Prof Satinder Kaur, emphasised the importance of staying away from drug abuse and highlighted the responsibility of every member of society to play a vital role in curbing this menace. She stated that identifying individuals involved in drug abuse is an important step in eradicating this social evil and that the social and economic costs of drug abuse place an intolerable strain on social infrastructures.
Prof. Kaur encouraged students to play an active part in controlling narcotics to make society a healthy and flourishing institution. She also highlighted the role of NCORD-National Narcotics Coordination Portal and explained that its four pillars are Apex NCORD, Executive NCORD, State NCORD and District NCORD. A monthly meeting is held in which responsible agencies are directed to control narcotics.
A total of eight students participated in the declamation contest and expressed their views and opinions on how the problem of drug abuse can be handled. The first position was secured by Jagmeet Kour, the second position was bagged by Priya Rajkumari and the third position was clinched by Tanu. The contest was adjudged by Dr Aditi Khajuria, Prof Seema Sharma and Dr Shamsher Lal.
The event was organised by the National Service Scheme unit ‘Prabha’ in collaboration with the Yuva Tourism Club of the College and was held under the guidance and leadership of the Principal of the College, Prof Satinder Kaur.
