GDC Ramgarh organises Slogan-Writing Competition on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’
SAMBA, May 16: The NSS Unit ‘Prabha’, of Government Degree College, Ramgarh, organized an awareness programme under the banner of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (NMBA) and under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and India’s Presidency in G20.
The program was organized under the supervision and leadership of the Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra. During the event, a poster-making competition on the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ was held, in which 16 students of the College participated.
The Principal of the College said that the risk of drug addiction lurks for everyone, although some people have higher chances of getting addicted than others, depending on multiple factors. “For instance, abuse/neglect of a child increases chances of addiction. Peer pressure can lead a person to try hazardous and more addictive substances, and availability of alcohol or drugs in social circle also increase chances of addiction,” she added.
She further observed that Psychological stress can also lead a person to try substances to feel relieved temporarily. Adolescents and young adults are more likely to get addicted to substances. She encouraged the participants to refrain from substance abuse and to spread awareness regarding substance abuse in their neighbourhoods.
Dr. Shamsher Lal, NSS Programme Officer, briefed the participants about the proceedings of the competition. He also motivated students to refrain from substance abuse. He added that all the Indian must live up to the spirit of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’.
The first position was secured and shared by Sarbjeet Singh and Vanshika Sharma, second position was secured and shared by Meena Sharma and Silvey and third position was secured by Tamanna Attri. The competition was judged by Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Risha Kumari and Dr. Rahul Kundal.
