GDC Ramgarh organizes ‘Cleanliness Drive’
SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 30: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-Prabha of Government Degree College Ramgarh organized ‘Cleanliness Drive’ on ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. The drive was carried out in the premises of the College. It was carried out under the supervision and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.
Prof. Seema Sharma Associate Professor, Education said to the volunteers about the importance of cleanliness and about the adverse effects of plastic waste and the pollution it does, more specifically land pollution, on the environment as a whole. She also laid emphasis on the diseases and health issues caused by unclean and polluted surroundings and how to prevent the same. She explained that these days, the Dengue is on the rise and in order to tackle this health epidemic, clean surroundings prove to be of great help.
Dr. Shamsher Lal, NSS Programme Officer, along with NSS committee members and NSS volunteers, carried out the drive. In the beginning, he briefed the volunteers regarding the importance of cleanliness and encouraged them to always keep the surroundings clean. He also said that this activity provided a great opportunity to the College to perform its social responsibilities for the society at large.
A large number of NSS volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the premises of the College. They collected the waste and it was disposed of on a designated site.
