GDC Ukhral organises awareness programme on “Angdaan Mahotsav”

RAMBAN, August 3: The NSS Unit of the Government Degree College, Ukhral, in collaboration with Debates and Seminar Committee, organised an awareness program on “Angdaan Mahotsav” under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The program aimed to spread awareness about organ donation.

The program started with a welcome address by NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Zakir Hussain Naik.

Dr. Reyaz Ahmed Khan, a medical expert from Health & Medical Education Department, J&K was the Keynote resource person of the event. Dr. Reyaz discussed the need for organ donation in saving lives. He said that 5 lakh people die every year due to non-availability of organs and there is a huge need for organ donors. He emphasised that almost all organs can be donated and a single person can save up to 8 lives.

Principal, Prof (Dr) Shallu Samyal, advised students to spread awareness and motivate people to register for organ donation after death. The program witnessed participation from students, faculty members including Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Katoch, Prof. Iftikhar Hussain Lone, Prof. Suresh Chander, Akash Verma and Mr. R.K Thakur.

The event concluded with participants taking a pledge to spread the message of organ donation within their circles.
