GDC Vijaypur organises Lecture on “Right to Education”
SAMBA, NOVEMBER 09: As a part of the series of events being organized under the flagship banner of “My Constitution My Pride”, a lecture on the theme “Right to Education” was today organized by the department of Political Science in collaboration with NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) here in Government Degree College Vijaypur . The lecture was attended by more than fifty students and NSS volunteers. The lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session.
Lecture was delivered by Prof. Ritu Bhagat, HOD Education. she briefed the students about Article 21(A) of the Indian Constitution. It states that “the state shall provide free education to all children of the age of 6 to 14 years in such a manner as the state mean by law they determine.”Our Indian Constitution is a document which is known to be committed to social justice. She further added that literacy forms the cornerstone for making the provision of equality of opportunity a reality. The Indian Constitution has therefore recognized education as the essence of social transformation, as is evident from its education specific Articles like 21(A).
Principal of the College, Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Gupta articulated that educational inequality should be eradicated from a society so that it can lead towards the path of progress. She further emphasized that education is a tool that can change a person’s fortune.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Renuka Kundan, Lecturer Political Science and co-cordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, NSS PO and Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo, Lecturer Sociology.
