GDC Vijaypur organizes Amrit Kalash Yatra

SAMBA, October 21: As a part of the series of program being organized under the banner ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ a nationwide campaign, NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur organized “Amrit Kalash Yatra” from college to BDO Office, Vijaypur.

NSS volunteers and other college students actively participated in the event with great zeal and enthusiasm to celebrate India’s Independence.

The main aim of the event was to awaken the spirit of patriotism and undying love for the motherland in every student and faculty of the college. College faculty, teaching as well as non-teaching, NSS volunteers and other college students, poured mitti and rice collected from different localities in the college’s “Amrit Kalash”. Thereafter an Amrit Kalash Yatra was carried out from the college campus towards BDO office Vijaypur where it got concluded by handing over the Amrit Kalash to BDO Officer Vijaypur.

The entire program was organized under able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College.

 While speaking on the occasion, she articulated that the event was a great opportunity for the students to know the rich cultural heritage that India possesses.

The Yatra was coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences) and co-coordinated by Prof. Renuka Kundan (Lecturer Political Science), Dr. Shallu Sharma (Lecturer Dogri) and Dr. Pooja Gupta (lecturer Commerce).
