General, Expenditure Observers hold election review meeting at Bani

KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 14: General Observer A.M. Khanam in presence of Expenditure Observer Tanay Sharma today chaired a meeting for the 63-Bani and 64-Billawar Assembly Constituencies at Returning Officer (RO) office, Bani.


The primary focus of the meeting was to interact with the polling staff, election candidates, and their representatives, in preparation for the upcoming General Election for Legislative Assembly (GELA) 2024.


During the meeting, General Observer A.M. Khanam and Expenditure Observer Tanay Sharma emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), stating that it is essential to ensure free and fair elections. They urged the polling staff and election officials to carry out their duties with precision and impartiality, in line with the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI).


The Observers also stressed that the RO must ensure level play field and provide an equal platform to all candidates, without any favoritism. They highlighted the active role of Flying Squads Teams (FSTs) and Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs) which are operating 24/7 to enforce the ECI’s guidelines and maintain the integrity of the election process.


In addition to the meeting, the Observers visited the training center at Hr. Sec School Bani, where polling staff are being trained to handle various aspects of the election. The visit reinforced the need for thorough preparation and adherence to the ECI’s protocols to guarantee a smooth and transparent election process in the Bani constituency. ‎
