General Observer, DEO Rajouri inspect Polling Stations near LOC
RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 12: In preparation for the upcoming General Election to the Legislative Assembly 2024, General Observer for Rajouri & Budhal Constituency, Anurag Jayanti, along with District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, conducted an inspection of polling stations near the Line of Control (LOC) in the Doongi Block, here today.
The visit aimed to assess the readiness of polling stations and ensure that all necessary facilities are in place for smooth voting.
During the visit, the officials inspected key polling stations at Government High School (GHS) Challas and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Doongi to verify the availability of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) such as electricity, drinking water, ramps for accessibility, and sanitation. These facilities are crucial to providing a comfortable voting experience, particularly for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
A key aspect of the visit was the discussion on the implementation of home voting for voters who are elderly, disabled, or unable to visit the polling stations.
The General Observer and DEO emphasized the need for thorough planning to ensure that home voting is conducted efficiently and in line with the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.
The General Observer and DEO also interacted with locals near the polling stations and encouraged them to actively participate in the democratic process.
He emphasized the significance of every vote in shaping the future of the constituency and urged citizens to turn out in large numbers on polling day.
In addition, the officials directed all polling staff to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. The DEO Rajouri reiterated the commitment of the district administration to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election. He also instructed the officials to ensure that all logistics, including security arrangements, are robust and in place.
