General Observer for Shopian-AC conducts extensive inspection of various polling stations in Keller
SHOPIAN, AUGUST 29: Roohi Khan, the General Observer for the 37-Shopian Assembly Constituency (AC), today conducted an extensive tour to Keller area of the district to assess the preparedness and Assured minimum facilities (AMF) at polling stations, in anticipation of the upcoming elections.
The day began with a visit to Polling Station at Nagbal where the Observer closely examined the facilities and directed to correct the drainage system around the polling station.
Roohi Khan visited and reviewed 11 polling stations including Narapora and Zawoora focusing on the availability of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) such as electricity, water, toilets, ramps, and sanitation.
She issued on-the-spot directions for the permanent display of polling station information outside each polling station, ensuring clarity and convenience for voters.
The General Observer emphasized the need for polling stations to be accessible, particularly for women, elderly voters, and persons with disabilities, ensuring the inclusive and participatory electoral process. She also stressed on keeping the polling stations neat and clean, by conducting sanitation drives before the elections.
She highlighted the importance of voter turnout through SVEEP and Outreach programmes and engaged with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), encouraging them to implement strategies to increase voter participation.
AROs were directed to ensure participation of VLWs or Panchayat secretaries with BLOs during the election days.
The Observer’s proactive approach underlines her commitment to a free, fair, and well-organized election process in the Shopian constituency.
