General Observer visits various polling stations of Shopian AC, oversees the conduct of polling process

SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 18: General Observer for Shopian Assembly Constituency, Roohi Khan today visited various polling stations in order to assess and observe polling process in the Shopian Assembly Constituency.


Early in the morning, the Observer visited Polling Stations located at GHSS including Pink polling Station, Youth Managed Polling Station at BHSS Shopian, Chotipora, Sedow and PWD polling station at Sindu Shirmal.


At BHSS Polling station, the Observer monitored the Mock Poll process early at dawn time, exemplifying commitment towards ensuring the fair and transparent conduct of elections in the Assembly Constituency.


During the visit, the Observer ensured that the poll process in AC is conducted smoothly and efficiently in compliance with set norms of ECI and that all necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate a free, fair, and accessible voting process.


The Observer oversaw that the polling stations are well equipped to handle the expected number of voters and all assured facilities are accessible to people with special needs and for infirm and elderly.


Roohi focused on the provision of Wheelchairs, facilitation at help desks, queue management, MCC observance and upkeep of hygiene and sanitation at the polling stations.


She also observed the live coverage of the polling process through five webcasting displays from Integrated Control Room at district headquarters, established for round the clock monitoring of queue, webcasting issues and any other complaints.


The Observer received various complaints by contesting candidates which were directed to RO Shopian and Control Room for speedy disposal.
The Observer’s role was crucial in upholding the integrity and transparency of the electoral process in the AC.
