General Observer Zainapora AC visits Strong Room; Reviews Counting arrangements, Supervises Micro Observer Training

SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 7: General Observer for Zainapora Assembly Constituency, Jeevan Babu K, today visited the Strong Room at the Mini Secretariat Shopian, where the commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines was being conducted.


The commissioning process was conducted by Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) engineers in the presence of Returning Officers (ROs), political party representatives, and contesting candidates.


During his visit, Jeevan Babu K closely monitored the entire commissioning process, ensuring that all procedures were being followed according to guidelines and emphasized the importance of comprehensive and well-laid-out arrangements for the proper handling and storage of EVMs and VVPATs.


Accompanied by the Returning Officer (RO) of Zainapora, the General Observer reviewed the receipt and dispatch of election-related materials and polling staff.


The observer assessed all aspects of the dispatch and receipt process, giving clear directions to ensure the smooth, seamless, and hassle-free distribution and receipt of materials.


Jeevan Babu also stressed the importance of adequate seating arrangements for polling staff and the efficient handling of logistical tasks to avoid any delays.


Later in the day, General observer visited the Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian, where he supervised the training program for Micro Observers.


During his interaction, the Observer encouraged the Micro Observers and emphasized their critical role and responsibilities in the upcoming elections and provided valuable insights on how they can effectively contribute to ensuring free and fair elections.
