GMC Doda celebrates World Breastfeeding Week 2024

DODA, AUGUST 07: The Department of Community Medicine at GMC Doda, under the guidance of Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Bahl, marked celebration of World Breastfeeding Week 2024 with a series of events and activities centered around the theme “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All.”


“Breastfeeding is not merely a maternal responsibility; it is a public health imperative. By fostering a community of well-informed mothers, we are not only promoting the well-being of our children but also strengthening the health of our society as a whole,” stated Dr. Suresh K. Kotwal, HOD of Community Medicine, during the inaugural session.


The week-long celebration featured a variety of activities designed to raise awareness and encourage community participation. Highlights included poster presentations, symposiums, and PowerPoint presentations by Prefinal MBBS students, showcasing their knowledge and commitment to the cause.


Field practice areas such as UHTC Ghat and RHTC Bhalla were focal points for community engagement, with field visits and awareness campaigns conducted to educate and support local families on the importance of breastfeeding.


The event concluded with feedback sessions from HODs and faculty members across various departments including Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Paediatrics, and Dentistry.
