Goa CM Pramod Sawant launches Matsya Vahini Matsya Ahar Fish Kiosks
Panaji (Goa) [India], August 19 (ANI): Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the Narali Pournima celebrations on Monday and launched the Matsya Vahini Matsya Ahar Fish Kiosks under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana organized by Department of Fisheries in the presence of Fisheries Minister Shri Nilkanth Halarnkar, Fisheries Secretary E Vallavan and others.
The Chief Minister said that 10 ‘Matsya Vahini’ environment-friendly e-rickshaws were distributed to enhance the transportation of fish from the landing site to the markets.
Additionally, he said that 25 ‘Matsya Ahar’– a unique retail fish outlet has also been sanctioned for Goa. He additionally said that these initiatives would create employment opportunities for Goan youth.
Further, Sawant reiterated that the Government of Goa was working on establishing a Fisheries College for the Goan youth and expressed certainty that these initiatives under the Fisheries department would benefit the Goans with employment & economic opportunities to build a bright future.
Sawant had also taken to his social media X and extended his best wishes to the people of Goa on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Narali Pournima.
NaralI Pournima is a festival celebrated to mark the end of the monsoon season.
Fishermen after the end of the festival begin fishing and start off with their trade. The festival is a ceremonial day observed by the Hindu fishing communities in Maharashtra and particularly around the Konkan coast.
Earlier today, Goa CM Pramod Sawant celebrated the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan with his sisters from the Bhartiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha of Goa.
Taking to platform X, Pramod posted “It was a pleasure to celebrate #RakshaBandhan with my sisters from the@BJPMM4GoaMahila Morcha, Students of different schools who came from across the State.Wishing everyone a Raksha Bandhan filled with love and cherished memories!”
