Gokulpuri Murder Case: Accused Majid Choudhary arrested after brief exchange of fire
New Delhi [India], August 2 (ANI): A 28-year-old accused in the Gokulpuri road rage and murder case was arrested on Friday. Identified as Majid Choudhary, the accused got injured during a brief exchange of fire with police, said Delhi police.
The accused sustained bullet injuries on both legs in retaliatory police fire. The police have recovered – one pistol 7.65 mm – with 2 rounds in the magazine and 3rd in the chamber and one motorcycle stolen from the area of Old Seelampur, Gandhi Nagar, said Delhi police.
On July 31, a road rage incident reported in Delhi’s Gokalpuri area turned out to be fatal for a woman, as she was shot dead while she was travelling with her husband on a bike on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Delhi Police, the deceased, identified as Simranjeet Kaur (30) was going towards Maujpur along with her husband, Heera Singh (40).
Meanwhile, Heera Singh, had a verbal spat with one person on a two-wheeler near Gokal Puri Flyover after their vehicles almost brushed against each other.
After which, a person fired a single shot from the flyover down below, from a distance of about 30-35 feet which hit his wife, Simranjeet Kaur in her upper chest, near her neck. He took his wife to GTB Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
A case of murder was registered. CCTV footage in the area was scanned to identify and arrest the assailant. The assailant was later identified as Majid, who was arrested on Friday. Further investigation is underway. (ANI)
