Gold futures fall on low demand

New Delhi, Oct 3 (PTI)Gold prices on Tuesday fell Rs 683 to Rs 56,917 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators reduced their positions.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for December delivery traded lower by Rs 683 or 1.19 per cent at Rs 56,917 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 15,616 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices to the trimming of positions by participants.

Globally, gold was trading 0.36 per cent lower at USD 1,840.50 per ounce in New York.
