Government Degree College Vijaypur celebrates National Unity Day

SAMBA, October 31: NSS Unit of Government Degree College Vijaypur, in collaboration with Department of English, celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) in honor of Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel’s birth anniversary.

The objective of celebrating this day was to educate students of the college about the nation’s unity and to spread awareness about the contributions of this great man to Indian history. Emphasis was also laid upon the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Iron Man of India) in the unification of our diverse nation. NSS volunteers of the college participated in the event with great enthusiasm and zeal.

The staff and students of GDC Vijaypur took the Rashtriya Ekta pledge, reaffirming their commitment to preserve the unity, integrity, and security of the nation. They also resolved to actively contribute to ensuring the internal security of the country.

A seminar was also organized by the Department of English where students shared their views about contribution of Iron man’s contribution in Indian history.While speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta highlighted the achievements and contribution of the great leader for the amalgamation of a nation which stands for its unity in diversity.

Whole of the event was organized under the able guidance of the Principal of the college. The event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan, Convenor Cultural Committee and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, HOD English & NSS PO; co-coordinated by Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo, Lecturer Sociology and Dr. Radhika Rasyal, Lecturer History.
