Government Polytechnic Jammu organises inter-department Carrom tournament

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 08: Government Polytechnic Jammu organised Inter-department Carrom Tournament in consonance with the annual calendar of Sports activities. As many as 85 students from ten different departments of the institute participated.

The Tournament was held from  3rd of November to  8th November 2023. The final of Inter-department competition was held today in which Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu, Er. Arun Bangotra was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion of felicitation function, he said  “In Sports and life the success depends on planning and believing, and execution of the plan. Only those who plan well succeed in Sports and life.” He also laid stress on all HODs to encourage girl students to participate more in sports activities.

In the 1st semifinal, Rohit Parihar student of Mechanical Engineering beat Mohammad Idrees student of Civil Engineering department. In the second Semi Final, Nakul Bhagat student of Electrical Engineering beat Dheeraj Pande student of Travel and Tourism Department. In the Final of Boys category, Nakul Bhagat of Electrical engineering department beat Rohit Parihar of Mechanical engineering department. In Girls category the Final was played between Nancy student of Architecture and Deepika Sharma student of Information Technology and in a close contest Nancy emerged Victorious.

Amit Kumar Sharma, Sport Secretary presented the vote of thanks to the chief guest and all the guests of honour who spared their valuable time for the occasion. Those present in the closing ceremony were Er. Raj Kumar HoD Mechanical Engineering, Er Manjeet Singh HoD Electrical Engineering, Er Sukhdeep Singh HoD Civil Engineering, Er Sanjay Koul, HoD Computer Engineering, Er Jasdeep Kour HoD Instrumentation and Control department, Er. Amit Gupta, Er. Akash Dasgotra,  Snehjot Kour, Er. Vicky Sharma, and Ashok Verma.

The Matches were officiated under the supervision of Dheeraj Kumar Lecturer Travel & Tourism, Chamel Singh PEM, Toshi Devi PET and Rakesh Khullar Inst. Repairer.
