“Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Unites in Vision for ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ through Inspirational Events”

In a remarkable display of unity and patriotic fervor, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, hosted a series of impactful events under the banner of “VIKSIT BHARAT ABHIYAN @2047: India of My Dreams by 2047” on December 22nd, 2023.

The day commenced with an Interactive and pledge-taking ceremony, led by the Department of Education, aiming to raise awareness about the ambitious vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ outlined by the Government of India. Prof. Minu Mahajan, the esteemed Principal, inspired students to actively contribute to achieving the goals of this transformative initiative. Dr. Mansi Sharma, an accomplished educationist, delved into the educational philosophies of iconic figures like Shri Aurobindo Gosh, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, and Bhagini Nivedita, emphasizing their relevance in the contemporary world. Students actively participated, expressing their views, with Dr. Tahira Shah and Dr. Rupinder Kour from the Department of Urdu adding valuable insights. The event culminated with a pledge ceremony and a formal vote of thanks by Professor Anupama Sharma.

Following this, the Department of Music organized the “Desh Bhakti Sangeet Sabha: Celebrating Patriotism Through Songs,” an enchanting musical event showcasing the students’ fervor for the motherland. Prof. Minu Mahajan lauded the Department for their efforts, and Dr. Priyanka Sharma, H.O.D Music, delivered the welcome address. Patriotic songs were sung with zeal, culminating in a powerful rendition of the national anthem, symbolizing the collective spirit of patriotism.

Continuing the spirit of celebration, the Department of Mathematics observed National Mathematics Day under the umbrella of Viksit Bharat. Prof. Minu Mahajan graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, encouraging students to cultivate a passion for mathematics. Resource persons Dr. Sunil Gupta and Dr. Narinder Sharma shed light on the life and work of the legendary mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan, emphasizing the role of mathematics in India’s development. The event featured student presentations on the role of mathematics in ‘Viksit Bharat,’ and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Kanan.
