Govt. Degree College for Women, Kathua Commemorates Gandhi Jayanti with a Series of Inspiring Activities
In a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Government Degree College for Women, Kathua organized a series of impactful events to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, fostering a spirit of peace, truth, and non-violence among students.The celebration commenced from 25th to 28th september 2024, started with a screening of the national film “GANDHI,” On the same day, students from NCC & NSS organized a peaceful rally, highlighting the importance of non-violence and peaceful coexistence in today’s society.
On 2nd day, symposium was organized on Gandhi’s teachings focused on truth and non-violence. On the same day, A visit to the District Library Kathua allowed students and volunteers from NCC and NSS to explore dedicated sections on Mahatma Gandhi, deepening their understanding of his contributions to India’s independence and the values of peace and simplicity.
As part of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,’ NCC and NSS volunteers participated in cleanliness drive in local parks, promoting hygiene awareness and responsible public behavior.A slogan writing, singing and essay writing competition themed “Truth and Non-violence,” was also organized on the third day. Additionally, a special book reading session focused on Gandhi’s autobiography, My Experiments with Truth, was conducted to encouraging deeper insights into his philosophies.An awareness program addressing the pressing issues of drug abuse and corruption under the banners of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ and ‘Bhrashtachar Mukt JK.’ Was also organused on 28th September.On the same day, an Engaging discussions on Gandhi’s contributions to Indian education were facilitated while an online quiz on Gandhian philosophy was also organized in the college.The celebration culminated with a documentary screening on the Sabarmati Ashram, offering an insightful look into one of India’s most significant cultural landmarks.
These events were organized under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Savi Behl, Principal of GDCW Kathua, reflecting the institution’s commitment to nurturing the principles of Mahatma Gandhi among its students. Principal also congratulated the cultural committee, NCC, NSS & other committees of the college for the successful completion of the series.
