Govt Deptts, Educational Institutions Celebrate National Voters’ Day

JAMMU, JANUARY 25: Government Departments, Educational Institutions celebrates National Voters’ Day.

The Directorate of Sheep Husbandry Jammu celebrated National Voters Day 2024 (NVD) with the theme of “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure” at Sheep Husbandry complex Jammu.

Dr. NaseemJavaid Chowdhary Director Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.

He said that the primary purpose of NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate and promote voter registration and participation particularly among first time voters. All participants took pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of India and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community language or any inducement.

All the Officers/Officials of Directorate of Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu participated in the pledge taking ceremony.

P.S.P.S. Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, today celebrated National Voters Day with enthusiasm and a sense of civic duty. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure.” The event featured Voters Pledge at College Auditorium and Painting Session at Moot Court Room.

The event witnessed a remarkable turnout, with students actively participating in both activities. The principal of the college Prof. Minu Mahajan emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process and expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, including students, faculty, and staff. Ashpreet Kour Sudan of Sem- 5th read out the Voters Pledge followed by Staff and Student. Renu Kotwal , Shruti Arora, Amiksha , Sarabjeet kour , Sanjeevani Bhardawaj and Shivya Gandotra were awarded with certificates of merit in the painting session.

Directorate of School Education Jammu celebrated the 14th National Voters Day, which also marks the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, with gaiety and fervour.

Different events like debates, declamations, drawing and quiz competitions, were held in various schools of Jammu division.

At the Directorate Head Office Jammu, all the employees and officials including Ms. Subah Mehta, Joint Director, Mr. Vikas Bagati, PO, and Ms. Mamta Sharma, Deputy Director ( Planning) joined the pledge taking ceremony administered by Mr. Ashok Sharma, Director School Education, Jammu, affirming to uphold the democratic traditions of our country encompassing free, fair and peaceful elections.

Similar pledge taking ceremonies were held across all the ten district headquarters of Jammu Division under the supervision and guidance of the Chief Education Officers of the respective districts.

GDC Ramgarh :Literary Club of Government Degree College, Ramgarh in collaboration with NSS unit ‘Prabha’ of this college celebrated National Voter’s Day on 25th January 2024 in the college by organizing an awareness programme to celebrate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India in 1950 and to make the youth aware about their responsibility regarding Right to Vote. under the able guidance and supervision of Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the day is devoted to the country’s voters and is intended to improve voter awareness and encourage their informed involvement in the electoral process for stronger democracy in the country. The programme was conducted by Dr. Snobar, HOD, Punjabi, Convener, Literary Club,

The Program began by the Principal welcoming the dignitaries. Sunaina Sahni, SDM, Ghagwal and ERO, Abhimaniyu Kalsotra, Tehsildar, Ramgarh and a team of BLOs. 

This was followed by a pledge taking ceremony in which all the staff members, students and dignitaries took the Voters’ Day pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of India and to vote in an ethical manner in every election.

GDC Vijaypur: NSS Unit of Government Degree College Vijaypur today celebrated National Voters’ Day 2024 by holding a pledge taking ceremony and cultural activities. Principal of the college, Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Gupta along with teaching and non-teaching staff and the students of the college participated in the celebration of the Day with great zeal and enthusiasm.

While speaking on the occasion Prof. Anita Jamwal, Head, Department of Political Science administered the National Voters’ Day pledge both in English and Hindi to create awareness among the participants about the importance of registration of votes and ensure their active participation in election for stronger democracy in the county. She further said that 25th of january is celebrated as the National Voters’ Day to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India in 1950.The objective is to increase the enrolment of voters to make the universal adult suffrage a reality.

Whole of the event was organized under the able guidance of the Principal of the college. The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Convenor IQAC and co-coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan, Convenor Cultural Committee and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, NSS PO.
