“Govt not responsible for violent incidents, but taking all steps to curb them”, says Tamil Nadu Law Minister
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 30 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Law Minister S Regupathy has said that the government is not responsible for violent incidents but is taking all steps to curb them.
Regupathy also alleged that recent violent incidents in the state are due to personal enmity and vindictiveness, and the government is not linked to them in any way.
Tamil Nadu Law Minister Regupathy, while addressing a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday, said “If we follow the recent violent incidents, they are not linked to the government in any way. All are due to personal reasons, old enmity, and personal vendettas. With these incidents, we can’t say that the law and order in the state have deteriorated.”
“The government is not responsible for such violence. However, police officials are taking measures with the history-sheeters list to address the problems among them. The Tamil Nadu government is protecting the state, and law and order are good. That’s why Tamil Nadu is a top state in India and many investors are coming to the state,” Regupathy said.
Regupathy also criticised opposition leaders, saying that leaders like Edappadi Palaniswami are giving different angles to the violent incidents to push Tamil Nadu backwards.
“Opposition leaders like Edappadi Palaniswami are diverting attention from the real issues to push Tamil Nadu backwards. One batch of history sheeters has been taken and warned. Even the B history-sheeters list is ready, and each police station is working on it. However, a few incidents related to revenge and enmity are still happening. The government is not responsible for this, but many measures are being taken to avoid such violent incidents. Today, 97 per cent of prisons are occupied, and rowdies have been arrested,” Regupathy said.
Recently, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami targeted the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin-led state government over the law and order situation in the state, saying that there is no security for anyone in Tamil Nadu and alleging that not a day goes by without murders taking place in Tamil Nadu.
The AIADMK General Secretary, while addressing the media at Thoothukudi Airport said, “Not a day goes by without murders taking place in Tamil Nadu. In Tamil Nadu, there is no security for anyone, from political party leaders to common women. The DMK is in power.”
The AIADMK leader also accused the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin-led state government of being incompetent in maintaining law and order in the state, saying, “Bahujan Samaj Party State President Armstrong and Nellai District Congress President Jayakumar have been murdered in Tamil Nadu, but the killers have not been properly identified yet.”
“In Tamil Nadu, there is no security for political party leaders, the public, or women. The hatred towards the DMK is increasing among the people, which is why they held a protest against the central government yesterday,” he added.
