Group of 87 progressive farmers flagged-off from Kupwara for inter-state Exposure tour

KUPWARA, October 17: A group of 87 progressive farmers, including women farmers was today flagged-off for a one day inter-state exposure tour from DC Office Complex, Kupwara.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan flagged-off the farmers group.

The exposure visit has been organized by Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department under MIDH- PFMS (Mission for integrated Development of Horticulture), to Pulwama district where farmers will visit KVK Malangpora and attend training and lectures on “Promotion of Mushroom Cultivation round the year.

Among others present on the occasion included Chief Agriculture officer Kupwara, Gurdeep Singh; District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Peerzada Shabir Ahmad and other officers and employees of agriculture department.

Interacting with the farmers on the occasion, the ADDC underlined that the objective of such an exposure tour is to make farmers aware of the latest technological interventions in the field of agriculture to achieve the targets and goals.

The farmers were advised to replicate the new technology in their respective areas that they will learn during the visit and further share it with other fellow farmers.

Chief Agriculture officer Kupwara on the occasion impressed upon the farmers to interact with the farm scientists, experts, and extension functionaries at KVK Malangpora to get acquainted with latest techniques in Mushroom cultivation on scientific lines. He asked the farmers to enhance their technical skills in the field.

He said that under the holistic document, special attention has been given to the capacity building of farmers and to achieve this target a number of programs have been devised.

The District Agriculture Officer (Extension) as Team Leader is accompanying the farmers during the visit.
