Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel inaugurates 7th national nutrition month in Gandhinagar
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], August 31 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel while inaugurating the 7th National Nutrition Month-2024 from Gandhinagar on Saturday stated that the National Nutrition Campaign has become a new approach to change the entire ecosystem related to maternal and child health.
In this regard, the Chief Minister said that Nutrition Month will be important in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India@2047 with the goal of ‘Sahi Poshan-Desh Roshan’ and the nutrition and health of mother and child.
The Prime Minister launched the National Nutrition Campaign in 2018 to combat malnutrition by focusing on the nutritional status of pregnant women, expectant mothers, adolescent girls and children up to the age of 6 years.
The 7th series of this tradition of celebrating the entire month of September every year as Nutrition Month was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar in the presence of the Union Minister of Women and Child Welfare Annapurna Devi.
This Nutrition Month in its seventh phase is to be celebrated across the country with the theme of Anemia Prevention, Growth Monitoring, efficient service delivery through good governance and transparency, nutrition bhi padhai bhi and dietary supplements.
The Chief Minister and Union Minister of Women and Child Welfare as well as the Minister of Women and Child Welfare of Gujarat Bhanubhan Babria symbolically distributed food drops to the orphans on this occasion, distribution of benefits to the beneficiaries of Vali Dotti Yojana, affordable food kits to pregnant and lactating mothers and adolescent daughters as well. An assistance check was distributed to the beneficiary sister of Swavalamban Yojana. The State Government’s new Nari Gaurav Niti-2024 was also launched by the Chief Minister on this occasion.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel added that as a result of the inspiration given by the Prime Minister to realize the mantra of Sauna Saath, Sauna Vikas by combining public participation in national campaigns, Nutrition Month has now become a public movement to fight against malnutrition.
He also detailed the state government’s adoption of an integrated approach to nutrition, health and education of mothers, pregnant sisters, adolescent daughters and children in Gujarat.
In this regard, the Chief Minister said that the Government provides pasteurized fortified flavored milk to more than 13 lakh children under the Dudh Sanjeev scheme to raise the nutritional level of children and especially children from tribal areas.
