Gujarat CM hands over Rs 1 cr cheque to kin of army jawan killed in J&K

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], September 13 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday met the family members of Indian Army soldier Mahipal Singh Wala, who lost his life during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district last month. 

The Gujarat Chief Minister also handed over the relief cheque of Rs 1 crore to the family members of the Indian Army jawan. 

Earlier on August 6, CM Patel paid tribute to Vala who lost his life during an encounter. 

“A gallant Indian Army jawan Mahipalsingh Wala of Surendranagar district of Gujarat was martyred in an encounter with terrorists at Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Today at Ahmedabad offered Shraddhasuman to his mortal body and condoled with his bereaved family. Grateful salute to the immortal martyr who made the supreme sacrifice to protect the country and countrymen,” he posted on ‘X’. 

Meanwhile, last week, a terrorist was killed in a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Reasi district. 

“War-like stores including one AK series assault rifle with magazines were recovered during the search following the encounter,” an official said. 

Indian Army defused an Improvised explosive device (IED) in the same region on September 3.
