Gujarat: CM Patel sanctions Rs 255 crore to three municipal corporations for road construction, maintenance
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], September 24 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned Rs 255.06 crore from the Mukhyamantri Shaheri Sadak Yojana to three municipal corporations in the State under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
The Chief Minister has granted in-principle approval for an allocation of Rs 181.50 crore to the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Monday. Additionally, Rs 68.94 crore has been designated for 29 urban road projects in Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), while Rs 57.68 crore has been approved for seven projects in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC). The total funding of Rs 961.47 crore has been approved for 1,529 urban road works.
The latest grant of funding will support 579 projects, including the widening of existing roads, construction of new roads, and the development of footpaths, as well as various works related to CC roads and road carpeting and re-carpeting.
The state government offers support under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana for projects that focus on constructing new roads and repairing existing ones in the metropolitan areas of the state. The Chief Minister has approved the proposal submitted by the Urban Development Department from the three municipal corporations related to this initiative.
CM Patel has additionally sanctioned Rs 60.78 crore for 12 different urban road projects for RMC, alongside funding for SMC. Moreover, Rs 12.84 crore has been approved for road renovation works in the GMC area.
Under the Mukhyamantri Shaheri Sadak Yojana, a component of the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, the Urban Development Department of the State Government has allocated Rs740.85 crore to Surat Municipal Corporation for 1,493 projects over the past four years.
Earlier on Sunday, in a post on X, the Chief Minister highlighted the decision to strengthen panchayat-owned roads in various rural areas in the state. Allocating Rs 668.3 crores for the construction of concrete roads in various villages.
“The roads passing through the villages used to deteriorate the surface of asphalt roads due to water logging and heavy traffic loads. As a permanent and long-term solution to this problem, a total allocation of Rs. 668.30 crores has been approved for the construction of concrete roads of 5.50 meters in length or available width at the village level under the facility path. Where concrete road construction is not possible, paver block work will be done,” the post read.
“787 roads of a total length of 1020.15 km in the state will be made concrete roads under the facility,” the post added.
