Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi Joins beach cleanup in Surat

Surat (Gujarat) [India], June 30 (ANI): After being ranked as the cleanest city in the country, Surat faces the significant responsibility of maintaining this prestigious position.

The Home Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghavi, has been actively participating in efforts to keep the city at the forefront of cleanliness.

Visuals emerged on Sunday showing Sanghavi picking up plastics from the Dumas beach shore alongside the public.

Speaking to ANI, he said, “The initiative was started by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the help of several people. The project, which began under the Clean Surat initiative, has been organizing cleanliness drives every Saturday. The group collaborates with different organizations to clean various areas. Currently, they are focusing on the Tapi River and Dumas beach.”

Discussing the involvement of the youth, he added, “We have been inspiring the youth to take the cleanliness drive forward and make the surroundings plastic-free. Today, even though it was raining, the youth came out and cleaned the beach. I joined them and worked closely to clean Dumas beach.”

“The youth have been sending a message to the public to keep the surroundings clean. Everyone who had been disposing of plastic waste earlier has now joined forces with the Municipality and Project Surat to clean the city,” he continued.

Sanghavi has also appealed to the people to help the government clean Surat. The campaign that started in Surat will now be extended to all cities in Gujarat to ensure the initiative’s success.

Additionally, on March 2, Gujarat’s President CR Patil said, “We have cleaned all areas in Navsari, covering 370 villages. Today, with the blessings of the Prime Minister, the youth will get employed in Navsari, which is a significant achievement for us.”
