Handicraft & Handloom Department organises Awareness Programme at Aspirational Block Thakrakote
REASI, OCTOBER 24: The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Reasi on Thursday conducted an awareness programme at the Aspirational block of Thakrakote to educate the public about various schemes and training programmes offered by the department. The event was part of ongoing efforts to support artisans, weavers, and local communities engaged in the handicraft and handloom sector.
Assistant Director Ujwal Singh Sambyal interacted with the local community. He emphasized the department’s commitment towards uplifting artisans and weavers by providing them access to skill development programmes, financial assistance, and market linkages. Sambyal encouraged the public to utilize the available opportunities to enhance their livelihoods and preserve the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Other attendees included Assistant Handicraft Training Officer (AHTO) Jyoti Prakash, officials Ashish Sharma, and Aspiration Block Fellow Sajjad Mir. They shared valuable insights about the schemes tailored to meet the needs of the local artisans, and highlighted training programmes designed to help individuals upgrade their skills, adopt modern techniques, and access wider markets.
The programme concluded with a positive response from the public, with many expressing their interest in participating in future initiatives by the department.
